The Denton Parks Foundation works to uphold the ideals espoused by Daniel Burnham, American achitect and urban planner . Through the financial support of corporations, foundations, and individuals, the Parks Foundation provides quality programming, activities and facilities for the community that would not otherwise be possible.
Denton is fortunate to have an outstanding parks system. The needs and expectations of the community, however, often surpass the tax dollars available. As Denton’s population doubles in the next 15 years, the Foundation is committed to creating new parks and recreation opportunities for the community.
The Denton Parks Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization, was founded in 1987 to support projects and programs of the Parks and Recreation Department in the City of Denton, Texas. The Foundation has no direct affiliation with the City and is governed by its own Board of Directors.
Though Denton is fortunate to have a wonderful parks system, there are times when tax dollars simply do not meet the needs and expectations of Denton citizens. Additional quality programming, activities, and facilities are made possible through the Foundation’s efforts to procure private support.
