The More the Merrier

Who says you can have too much disc golf? Not us, the more the merrier!

The City of Denton is growing and adding more disc golf courses only makes sense. This is why we’ve become the fiscal sponsors for 940 Disc Golf. Our newest partners are dedicated to providing more disc golf opportunities to Denton residents. Through our collaborative efforts we’ve raised over $12,000 this year to add an additional course. Also, we are fundraising to make improvements and updates to the current course. Together, we are truly making our parks better!

Why Disc Golf?

Disc golf is on the rise in popularity. In fact, during COVID this outdoor activity is considered the fastest growing sport. In fact, disc golf is estimated to have had a 33% increase in activity. The sport definitely helped athletes and outdoor enthusiasts to play while safely observing COVID guidelines. Because of this, we saw a major increase in interest with more people playing than ever before at North Lakes Disc Golf Course.

Given the sport’s popularity and Denton’s unique culture, our city could benefit from the disc golf tourism industry. It turns out, disc golfers love to travel and play at different courses. And in fact are keen to spending money at local businesses, dining at local restaurants, and staying in local hotels. To increase our the economic impact of disc golf, Denton can host regular tournaments.

In addition to bringing in more revenue, disc golf can also have added perks for Denton residents.
